The ADHD–EF Mismatch: What Educators & Coaches Need to Know

Ever wonder why some executive function strategies just don’t work for students with ADHD? Register here

ADHD and executive function are often confused, but understanding the difference is key to supporting students effectively. In this 90-minute interactive workshop, you’ll learn how ADHD and EF overlap—and how they diverge—through brain-based explanations and hands-on practice. Participants will:

• Gain clarity on the distinctions between ADHD and executive functions.
• Go step by step through the Pause Button technique, including which executive functions it engages (response inhibition, regulation, working memory, cognitive flexibility), sample scripts for what to say, why it works, and how to practice it with students.
• Play the Mismatch Challenge, a hands-on activity where you’ll match strategies to the EF skills they actually strengthen, using examples from real-life student scenarios.
• Walk away with concrete, ready-to-use tools for classrooms, coaching sessions, and home.

This session blends science with practice so you leave with insight, strategies, and activities you can apply right away.

Writing on the Brain: How Working Memory Shapes Every Word

Writing on the Brain: How Working Memory Shapes Every Word

Writing is one of the most working-memory-heavy tasks students face. Every step — from choosing a topic to drafting sentences and organizing paragraphs — relies on juggling multiple channels of working memory at once. No wonder so many students freeze when they see a blank page.

In this Strategist Call, we’ll:

  • Explore Baddeley’s model of working memory and its direct link to the writing process.

  • Walk through a student case study that shows where WM overload stalls progress.

  • Learn practical coaching strategies to reduce memory load and externalize planning.

  • Try out an interactive “Sentence Puzzle” activity (Starbucks & TikTok themes) that Strategists can take straight to students.

By the end, you’ll have concrete tools to help students transform writing from an overwhelming task into a manageable, step-by-step process.

Ooops they lied again

Lying is often misunderstood—but it’s actually tied to key executive function skills like impulse control, perspective-taking, and emotional regulation. In our community workshop, we will explore the “why” behind lying, what it tells us about a student’s development, and how to respond in ways that build trust and skills instead of shame.

Community Call, Processing Speed Module

This is a community call, open to those who have completed Mastering EF. Processing speed is the rate at which a student can take in information, make sense of it, and respond appropriately. It plays a critical role in learning, as students are constantly asked to absorb and interpret new material quickly in the classroom. A student's processing speed can affect reading comprehension, problem-solving, note-taking, and test performance. Today we will discuss Processing Speed and the bonus module.
